一．數字的兩種基本翻譯方法

1.保留數字直譯——要求數字的準確度和清晰度

（1）年代的表達

Eg: 1980s 二十世紀八十年代

（2）長數字的表達

Eg：The Chinese News Agency says China’s population has grown to 1,031,882,511 persons. （數字讀作one billion thirty-one million eight hundred eighty-two thousand five hundred and eleven），數字翻譯為10億3188萬2511。

2. 舍棄數字意譯——對數字進行模糊化處理

Eg: I have one hundred and one things to do this morning.

今天早上我有很多事情要做。

這里的one hundred and one就做了模糊處理，舍棄了數字意譯為“很多”。

Eg: Her face lost color within twenty seconds.

她的臉色一下子就變了。

這里的within twenty seconds只是表示時間的短暫，并沒有實際的數字意義，因此，只要譯為“很快”，“一下子”等表示時間短暫的漢語意義就可以了。

二．易忽視的表達

1. mid-to-high-$200 range= $250-$300 250-300美元

low-to-mid-$200 range = $200-$250 200-250美元

Eg: "We believe this lower priced iPad could be priced in the mid-to-high-$200 range," White wrote in a note to investors. "

懷特在客戶報告中表示，低價定位的iPad售價預計將在250-300美元范圍內。（詳見原文>>>）

2. dozens of, scores of 許多

dozen是十二、一打的意思，score是二十的意思，但在詞組dozens of, scores of中卻不是“幾十”的意思，根據《英漢習語大詞典》中對它們的解釋為“許多，大量”。

Eg: Scores of people attended the special performance.

許多人出席了那次專場演出。

Eg: I’ve been there dozens of times.

我去過那里許多次了。
